BFF Strikes A Mcmansions Chord

The release of BFF puts a cap on a year-long run of recording and shows for Atlanta’s The Mcmansions. The song encompasses everything we loved about the band from a danceable rhythm to a sing-along chorus and that stripped down 4-piece rock band sound.

Dan’s clean intro guitar melody is kicked into overdrive when Kevin’s thumping bass line, Greg’s distorted guitar licks and my snare flams kick in. From there it’s game on with a surprise cut out and in at the end.

BFF is all about the loss of a best friend, and originally was called Lamo. Through several rehearsals and song revisions, the chorus changed to Best Friends Forever leading to the song name change. Dan wanted the song to emphasize the better memories of a friendship in the chorus, while sharing those trying times in the verses.

Here’s Dan’s lyrics to BFF:

He hates the band
He smells like a roach
He haunts these venues
Like a ghost

Best friends forever
Best friends forever

I went to the club
To grab myself a beer
Don't look now
There he is

Best friends forever
Best friends forever

He puked in the sink
He peed on the floor
You can't get in
He locked the door

Best friends forever
Best friends forever

He's some kinda dude
He looks like a girl
He'll take your money
He'll take more

Best friends forever
Best friends forever
Best friends forever
Best friends forever

This song was recorded remotely at each of our home studios, but feels and sounds as if we’re playing it live. We wanted to give you that live show sound of The Mcmansions.

We did try sending out the song for an outside mix, but it just didn’t sound like us, so I completed the final mix at GTown Studio while Greg did the mastering for release.

The cover was from a photo we took in the bathroom during our recent show at Smith’s Olde Bar in our matching bowling shirts…dressed for success!

BFF officially releases on Valentine’s Day everywhere, but you can stream it early now on Bandcamp at the link below.

Finally, here’s a live rehearsal jam of the song we recorded toward the end of 2024.
